This Privacy Policy explains how Boar collects and uses personal data when you use our website and services.

1) What data we collect

We collect the following categories of data:

  • Account data: full name, email address, profile photo.
  • Public profile/listings: approximate city/country, route details, dates, and item/document description (as provided by you).
  • Contact method: one preferred contact method (e.g., Telegram handle, WhatsApp number, Viber, Instagram handle, or similar) that you choose to share for handoff.
  • Reviews/ratings: reviews and ratings you write and receive.
  • Technical/security data: IP address and basic device/browser logs used for security, abuse prevention, and service reliability.

We do not collect:

  • phone number (unless you choose it as your contact method),
  • precise GPS location,
  • payment details (we do not process payments in the MVP),
  • in-platform messages (we do not provide messaging).

We do not intend to collect special category data (e.g., health, religion, political opinions) and ask you not to provide it.

2) How we use your data

We use personal data to:

  • create and manage accounts,
  • publish listings and enable matching,
  • display your chosen contact method for user-to-user handoff,
  • operate reviews/ratings,
  • provide customer support and moderation,
  • prevent fraud, misuse, and security incidents,
  • maintain and improve the service (basic analytics and debugging, where enabled),
  • comply with legal obligations.

Depending on context, we process data under:

  • Contract necessity (to provide the service you request),
  • Legitimate interests (keeping Boar safe, preventing abuse, improving reliability),
  • Consent (for non-essential cookies/marketing where required),
  • Legal obligations (where applicable).

4) Sharing your data

We share data in limited ways:

  • Public visibility: your listings, approximate location, profile photo (if you add it), reviews/ratings, and chosen contact method may be visible to other users depending on how the service is designed.
  • Service providers: we may use vendors for hosting, analytics, error monitoring, and support. They process data on our instructions.
  • Legal and safety: we may disclose data if required by law, or to protect users, investigate abuse, or enforce our Terms.

We do not sell your personal data.

5) International transfers

We may use service providers located outside the UK/EEA (for example, US-based vendors). Where this involves international transfers, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses and supplementary measures where required.

6) Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary:

  • Account and listings: kept until you delete your account (and then removed from public view).
  • Reviews/ratings: may be retained to preserve trust and platform integrity; where feasible we will anonymize them upon account deletion.
  • Security logs (IP/device): typically retained for 6–12 months.
  • Backups: may persist for 30–90 days after deletion.

We may retain certain information longer if needed for legal compliance or to prevent fraud and enforce bans.

7) Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • access your data,
  • correct inaccurate data,
  • delete your data,
  • object to or restrict processing,
  • withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent),
  • data portability,
  • lodge a complaint with a regulator.

To exercise rights, email [email protected].

8) Account deletion

You can request deletion by contacting us. We will remove your profile and listings from public view and handle remaining data as described in “Data retention”.

9) Children

Boar is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.

10) Future features (ID verification)

In the future we may introduce optional or required identity verification or enhanced safety checks. If we do, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide appropriate notice before changes take effect.

11) Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post an updated version with a new effective date.
